Chili con Carne is a robust and spicy stew originating from Mexican cuisine, featuring ground or diced beef simmered with chili peppers, tomatoes, and beans. The dish starts with browning the beef in a pot, followed by sautéing onions, garlic, and bell peppers to build a flavorful base. Spices such as cumin, chili powder, paprika, and oregano are added to create a rich, aromatic profile. Diced tomatoes and kidney beans are then mixed in, and the chili is simmered slowly to allow the flavors to meld and develop a hearty, thick consistency. Often served with toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped cilantro, Chili con Carne is a versatile and warming dish, perfect for gatherings, casual dinners, or cold weather meals. It can be enjoyed on its own, with cornbread, or over rice.
